PERLAGIA TAFADZWA KAPUYA, ICMICA AFRICA SECRETARY GENERAL

Perlagia Tafadzwa Kapuya, is a founding trustee of Economics Justice for Women Project. She is the Secretary General of ICMICA Africa.

Perlagia Tafadzwa Kapuya is a feminist and a development practitioner focusing on Women Empowerment and Human Rights. She is an advocate for women’s economic justice as a critical aspect that ensures human dignity. She is also a seasoned consultant in training, and research focusing on women’s rights, SRHR, Entrepreneurship Development, and Sustainable Livelihoods.

Perlagia is a strong advocate for Environmental justice and citizens’ right to information and freedom of expression. She is the current Board Chairperson of EJWP. She has worked at Empretec Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Aids Prevention Project (ZAPP-UZ), African Women’s  Initiative in Developing Economies (AWIDE), and is the Founder and current  Executive Director of Action for Women in Development and Enterprise (Act4Women). She is also the current Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Association of Community Radio Stations (ZACRAS) and the current Secretary General of International Catholic Movement for Intellectual and Cultural Affairs (ICMICA-Africa Region). Perlagia recently led women, human rights, and leadership mapping exercises and authored a handbook on the same, under the auspices of Zimbabwe Human Rights Association ( ZimRights). The handbook celebrates the milestones women have achieved in the human rights discourse over the years, highlights current challenges and presents opportunities towards women’s effective leadership in the human rights agenda.
