Valentin Makongo
Deputy Vice-President of ICMICA-MIIC Africa
With a degree in Organizational Communication and another degree in Political Philosophy, Valentin Makongo is a journalist and newspaper editor in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC before being in charge of Communication at Justice and Peace commission of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO). He is an analyst on socio-political phenomena. He is currently a political advisor for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO). Valentine is concerned about all actions towards building of a more just world where a true and lasting peace through a dialogue between human beings is valued as per the example of Jesus Christ. He also believes that nothing can replace the family in building the kingdom of God on the earth and in ensuring the stability of the Church. That is why he committed to the Justice and Peace Commission of his parish before engaging in post-marital supervision.
He was a Member then became a Federal President of the International Movement of Catholic Students (IMCS-DR Congo, 1999-2001, Valentin is currently a member of the Council of ICMICA- MIIC (International Catholic Movement for Intellectuals and Cultural Affairs) – DRC (2016-2019, 2020-2023) and also deputy Vice-President of ICMICA-MIIC Africa since 2016. He believes in the expansion of the movement to other countries of the continent where the MIIC is not yet formally present.
